WebPositional head flattening is sometimes referred to as flat head in babies. Its medical name is positional plagiocephaly. It happens because the bones of a young baby's head are thin and flexible, so can change shape easily. Positional head flattening may happen if a baby lies with their head in the same position for a long time. WebThey are flat, large or small areas of skin that are pink or purple in colour. They are usually present from birth and the colour gets darker (from pale pink to deep red-purple) as the child grows. They may thicken and become lumpier around and after puberty. The marks are often on the face, sometimes just on one side.
