Small journal 327 crank in a 283 block
Webb26 nov. 2008 · Consequently the 327 crank is not quite as strong as the 265, 283, and SJ 302 cranks. When they developed the 350 in 1967 with its 3.48 inch stroke they increased the size of both the main and rod journals to regain some of the overlap that was lost as the rod journals were moved out on the crank. It is possible to use a larger journal 350 block and use a stroker crank to which would be what I would do if I built another one.

Webb25 apr. 2015 · A 283 .60 over is a 292 cubic inch. But yes if you use a stock bore 327 with 283 crank you get a 301, but you have to change the pistons so the pin height is right. Also 283 cranks have a round flange where 327 have a notched flange on the crankshaft.
